Terms of Service

The rules for using The Unverified File, submitting material, and connecting an authorized social account.

Effective July 24, 2026

These Terms of Service (the “Terms”) form an agreement between you and Null Records, operator of The Unverified File (“The Unverified File,” “we,” “us,” or “our”). By accessing or using unverifiedfile.com, its related research features, or its authorized publishing tools (collectively, the “Services”), you agree to these Terms and our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, do not use the Services.

1. What the Services provide

The Unverified File is an evidence-first research and publishing project concerning uncertain, unexplained, historical, and public-interest events. The Services may provide case files, maps, source links, community signals, AI-assisted summaries, research leads, and tools that help authorized publishers prepare or send content to third-party platforms.

Our reporting is informational and editorial. It is not legal, medical, financial, safety, or other professional advice. A case status, AI summary, community vote, map connection, or prediction is not proof that a claim is true or false.

2. Eligibility and authority

You must be at least 13 years old to use the Services. If you use a third-party platform integration, you must also meet that platform’s age and account requirements. You represent that you have authority to submit material, connect the account you authorize, and direct any requested publication.

3. Accounts and third-party authorization

Some publishing features may let an authorized user connect a TikTok or other social account using that platform’s authorization process. We request only the permissions shown during authorization. You remain responsible for reviewing the destination account, caption, media, privacy setting, interaction settings, and all other choices before publishing.

You may revoke platform access using the third party’s account controls. Revocation may stop future access but may not remove content already published; removal of published content may need to be completed on the destination platform.

4. Submissions and community activity

You retain ownership of incident reports, comments, photographs, video, and other material you submit (“User Content”). You grant us a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free license to receive, store, review, reproduce, adapt for formatting or safety, investigate, and—only when appropriate—publish the User Content in connection with the Services. This license lasts while the material is used in our research or public record, subject to applicable law and our removal practices.

You represent that your User Content is accurate to the best of your knowledge, that you have the necessary rights and permissions, and that it does not unlawfully disclose private information. Submissions are research leads, not verified evidence, and may be rejected, edited, labeled, delayed, or removed. Community votes express audience opinion and do not determine truth.

5. Acceptable use

You may not use the Services to:

  • violate law, another person’s rights, or a third-party platform’s rules;
  • submit unlawful, threatening, defamatory, fraudulent, harassing, exploitative, or privacy-invasive material;
  • impersonate another person or misrepresent the origin, provenance, or context of evidence;
  • upload malware, disrupt the Services, evade security controls, scrape protected systems, or attempt unauthorized access;
  • automate spam, artificial engagement, or publication without the account holder’s knowledge and authorization; or
  • present our analysis, labels, predictions, or community votes as official findings or established fact.

6. AI-assisted material

We may use local or hosted AI systems to summarize, translate, classify, extract entities, suggest connections, or draft content. AI output can be incomplete or wrong. It is a research aid, not evidence, and should be checked against linked sources. We may revise or withdraw AI-assisted material as the record changes.

7. Intellectual property

The Services, original design, logos, software, and original editorial material are owned by Null Records or its licensors and are protected by applicable intellectual-property laws. Source material remains subject to its original ownership, license, and attribution. Limited quotation, linking, and fair use are not restricted by these Terms.

If you believe material on the Services infringes your rights, email privacy@unverifiedfile.com with the URL, identification of the work, the basis of your claim, and reliable contact information.

8. Third-party services and links

The Services link to or interoperate with third parties such as TikTok, YouTube, Cloudflare, Google, and public source repositories. Their services are governed by their own terms and privacy policies. We do not control third-party availability, moderation, data practices, or content, and a link does not imply endorsement.

9. Changes, availability, and termination

We may modify, suspend, limit, or discontinue features; correct or remove content; or restrict access when reasonably necessary for security, law, rights protection, editorial integrity, or platform compliance. We may update these Terms by posting a new effective date. Continued use after an update means you accept the revised Terms.

10. Disclaimers

To the fullest extent permitted by law, the Services are provided “as is” and “as available.” We disclaim warranties of accuracy, completeness, reliability, availability, merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, title, and non-infringement. We do not promise that any claim will be resolved, any prediction will occur, or any third-party post will be accepted, remain available, or receive engagement.

11. Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, Null Records and its contributors will not be liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, exemplary, or punitive damages, or for lost profits, data, goodwill, or opportunities arising from use of the Services. Where liability cannot be excluded, our aggregate liability will not exceed the greater of the amount you paid us for the Services in the preceding 12 months or US $100. Some jurisdictions do not allow certain exclusions, so portions of this section may not apply to you.

12. General terms

These Terms and the Privacy Policy are the entire agreement concerning the Services. If a provision is unenforceable, the remaining provisions continue in effect. Failure to enforce a provision is not a waiver. You may not transfer your rights under these Terms without our consent; we may transfer these Terms as part of a reorganization or transfer of the project. Applicable mandatory consumer rights remain unaffected.
