About & trust
The Unverified File investigates uncertain events by making its evidence trail inspectable. We can be curious without pretending uncertainty has disappeared.
Preserve what was actually alleged, by whom, and when—without silently strengthening it.
Prefer primary records, preserve provenance, name limitations, and distinguish reporting from testimony.
Case files show material changes and corrections instead of overwriting the public record without notice.
What AI does
Local models may cluster sources, extract entities, suggest connections, translate, or draft summaries. Their output is a research lead. It is never evidence and never the final editorial judgment.
What community votes do
Votes help prioritize work and surface disagreement. Popularity, confidence, and consensus are not substitutes for provenance or corroboration.
Ownership and funding
The Unverified File is an independent Null Records project. Support links help fund collection, hosting, and reporting. Sponsorship or support does not change a source's evidence status.
Material corrections belong in the case revision record. For a correction request, identify the case, the disputed statement, and a primary source that supports the change. A dedicated private submission channel will be introduced before personal submissions are accepted.
Older Archive, map, and video material may predate this evidence model. Its presence is not an endorsement. Migration status is shown wherever a record has been converted into a reviewed case file.
